People feeling liberated to be as racist as they want to be. I wonder why?

A Des Moines woman told authorities she hit a teenage girl with her car because the victim was Hispanic, according to court records.

Nicole Marie Poole Franklin, 42, is charged with attempted murder for allegedly running down a 14-year-old on Dec. 9 as the girl walked to Indian Hills Junior High School, Clive police say. The Des Moines woman is being held at the Polk County Jail.

Franklin is accused of driving her 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee off the roadway in the 9200 block of Indian Hills Drive at Indian Hills Junior High School onto a sidewalk where the victim was walking, according to a criminal complaint.

Wonder why? Because the lady is mentally imbalanced is why. Surely Joe you wouldn't suggest this is some by-product of our presidents policies? I know you are a much smarter man than that.

 

Mentally unbalanced doesn't explain nor tie her to racism. Calling people people animals, murderers and criminals is all some mentally unbalanced people need to set them off. Tell people that there is an invasion at the southern border, and mentally unbalanced people will react in mentally unbalanced ways. Lock people in cages and mentally unbalanced people will begin to think of them as less than human. A 14-year old girl on her way to school couldn't be less threatening to any mentally unbalanced person until and unless someone paints a target on her back. If you have ever read anything about the holocaust, you'll know that the Nazis didn't start out with death camps. They dehumanized the Jews first. The population had to pulled along first.

 

Please blame ANYTHING on ANYONE for ONCE on anything except for Trump. There could've been a million other things driving (no pun intended) to commit the crime in question. Not everything is Trumps fault.

 

I truly do not know if I am to take you seriously this time. Are police officers being dehumanized? Is that why they are being assassinated in cold blood routinely? I am quite familiar with Hitler policies and methods. I had two relatives I loved that fought to defeat him and the history is of interest to me. There is nothing.... Absolutely nothing taking place in our White House that can even remotely be considered Nazi propaganda as you are suggesting. This is way, way over the top.

 

Joe’s over the top post shows how desperate he has become. He condemns the US Government for defending its borders which every other country does. He cites one mentally unbalanced person who tried to run over a 14 year old girl and projects that behavior on millions of other people. He talks about “children in cages” when those photos were taken when Obama was president. And then he compares conservatives to Hitler. He complains about calling people “animals” when the people in question are MS-13, who act like animals.

Joe’s “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is showing. He is desperate because he knows that his precious socialist Democrats are not doing well in the polls. Instead of taking about the real issues, he harps are far left fantasies.

 

We have a crass deplorable bully in the White house that has made jokes about and insulted disabled people, women's appearances, widows, Gold Star parents, war heroes, veterans, and pretty much any ethnic group you can name. But for some reason, it is a stretch too far to associate in anyway his rhetoric with behaviors such as shooting up Synagogues, malls, and other pubic venues and yes, people committing horrific acts like this woman did, even when the perpetrators have direct evidence linked to Trump's rhetoric.

You are right though. There is something mentally unbalanced about these people. Their faith in someone as corrupt and evil as Trump is clearly some type of social psychosis. The only cure for these types of mentally imbalanced people is to remove the cause of the illness. Dr. Pelosi seems to have the prescription.

P.S. Try and find as much indignity about the women in Iowa and some sympathy for the young woman who was viciously mowed down for being a minority as you have ire for the people on the opposite side of the aisle. Your outrage at the idea that Trump might actually be held accountable for his rhetoric shouldn't completely overshadow your sympathy for the child that not one of you even mentioned. Where is this country headed?

 

In 2019 thirty-eight police officers were assassinated. Thirty-eight young men and women that will not be with their children this Christmas. Show me some outrage, Joe. Show me some sympathy for those children weeping at the family Christmas tree....... Would I be outrageous were I to align these cold blooded killings with the chaos the left so gleefully breeds in our nation these days? Would you think I were a bit off my rocker for suggesting such an outrageous thought?

I’m sorry, but I cannot allow this thought to go on unprotested. Our commander in chief does have his flaws. We all do because we are human. But to suggest a propaganda platform on par with Hitlers Nazi thugs is just beyond proportion and simply unthinkable. I gave up eight years of my life to protect the freedoms that we take for granted and abuse to thrash the very givers of those freedoms. And I would take up arms again tomorrow to protect those freedoms again. I will stop a person from disrespecting my flag and by golly I will set this misguided thought right as well.

Where is this country headed? Until we find ourselves able to control our own selfish desires and return to a societal standard that shows a modicum of respect to teachers, law officers, law makers, and commander in chief’s.... I fear the path we are headed is one of mutual destruction.

You know who's made a point of denigrating law enforcement for years now. Most recently calling those whose actions he doesn't like "scum." I'm not so disingenuous as to lay the deaths of law enforcement personnel at his feet though.

Yes, being a police officer on the street is dangerous. It's tragic when good men and women get killed on the job. In a thread about racist violence, which references the inescapable fact that the number of hate crimes has gone up every year that Trump has been in office, one wonders why somebody would decide to decry violence against police and blame the leftists. How is that relevant? Even if you could justify that accusation (you haven't), what does that have to do with the significant rise of overt racism and racist crime, and the eminent possibility that it has some close relation to the rhetoric employed by the most powerful official in the country?

The white supremacists and neo-Nazis didn't cheer the election of Trump by some random coincidence. They felt encouraged to gather and march by torchlight, and it wasn't something in the water.

 

I'd like to reiterate what @Recusant said in my own words.
First of all, officers dying in the line of duty is of course tragic but has nothing whatsoever to do with people mowing down little girls on their way to school and justifying that heinous act by saying that she was Mexican. The numbers of officers dying in the line of duty has pretty much been constant for years. It's a hazardous job and they deserve our respect. However, the numbers of unarmed black men and black teenagers being shot by police with almost complete impunity has skyrocketed over the last decade or so. What you are suggesting with your concern for the police above is a classic switch topic response. Nice try but I see no relation to this tragic incident. Thank God this little innocent girl will recover. And thank God the police caught this animal and can throw her in a dark hole for the rest of her life.
Hopefully, if this thread is to continue, we can look at the root causes of incidents like this one. I never intended to blame Trump exclusively nor do I believe that this type of insanity started with Trump. He is simply a symptom of the broader racism that has always been part of this country. If we can't acknowledge that we have a problem with racism, we can never hope to solve the problem. Examining the causes of racism should be a bipartisan issue. We have institutional racism and always have had it. It only makes sense to look at our institutions and those people that would support or suppress such efforts. Agreed. And I appreciate the clarification. I was simply drawing an analogy on how facetious one argument is against the other. If ever the old adage, "Two wrongs do not make a right", were appropriate, it certainly applies here. A debate on racism is perhaps needed.

It is no secret that I have an adopted black daughter. I have also stated in previous threads that to date, she has been raised entirely color blind. In fact yesterday (during football) she came flourishing in the living room to show me her new dance. I obliged her performance but was taken that while she danced she remarked to me, "I am so lucky that God gave me brown glittering skin". The remark made me feel almost as warm as her dance did.

I say that because I believe racism must be dealt with from both sides. If you carry a chip on your shoulder because you were raised in a mistrusting environment, then you will likely be a target for racism. That has to be recognized. Put another way, it takes two to dance. Color blind attitudes must be a part of a child's upbringing. Once the infection sets, it is a difficult one to cure. This is not so much a leadership problem as it is a child rearing issue.

Again though.... I will never be convinced or persuaded that our commander in chief promotes racism. It is a well known and documented fact that the children in cages photographs were a product of the previous administration. I had a duty assignment in the Army many years ago of guarding Cuban refugees that were in fact locked up in fenced areas for a brief period. This was only to allow the time for these people to be properly vetted. The conditions were far from inhumane. I was there. Always bear in mind, we aren't trying to keep people from escaping our borders. We are only attempting to vet those that are coming in illegally. And again from first hand experience, I know the bad guys are coming in illegally. The job is monumental. I assure you, you do want these people vetted. And that has nothing to do with a discussion on racism.
