Apparently Donald Trump Doesn't Get to be the King

Claiming broad sweeping presidential powers for himself, Trump asserted that no one in his administration would be allowed to testify. So much for transparency, something Trump has never, ever, been known for.

A judge ruled that the Constitution clearly and unambiguously slaps that idea right off of Trump's orange smirking face. The president that thinks himself the king of the United States just met the justice system of his nightmares.

Judge tells Trump he's not a king -- the President is not so sure

House Democrats to force former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify. But it serves as a thematic frame for an entire presidency that has never played by the rules.

All of Trump's scandals are fusing together into a momentous fight over his staggeringly broad claims of expansive presidential power. How it turns out will shape his personal political legacy, the nature of the office he has held for nearly three years and potentially the American political system itself.

The impeachment battle over Ukraine, Trump's efforts to keep Americans in the dark over his financial past, the lingering questions left over from special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia report and Trump's determination to rule as an unchallenged commander in chief now all boil down to two simple questions.

How much power does a President have? And how long can the governing institutions that he has incessantly challenged stand his wielding of instinctive yet often-erratic executive authority?
The White House on Monday walked away from its latest battles over presidential power with a loss, a temporary win and a bunch of new legal battles.

    McGahn must testify!

Keep on battering, Joe. Aside from those, like you, on the far left, the rest of America is tired of listening. to you. Your side is running the risk of turning off the independents with your impeachment strategy.

When you have a new narrative, that concerns the issues that matter to people, perhaps you will get an audience.

In the mean time your leader and mentor, AOC, has announced that the term "free stuff" is unacceptable. The new term is "public goods."

She should scare you too, but you are too brain dead to comprehend what she represents.

She is prime example of a brain washed millennial who managed to get a college degree and emerge from “the halls of ivy” totally ignorant of how the world works. The amazing thing is that she was an economics major. You would think that she would have some idea of how the economy works, but she’s too steeped in socialism to have any constructive ideas about that.

Yeah Joe.... I too am one of those. She doesn't speak from experience. She speaks of Utopian dreams that aren't real. You know me. I am a businessman and firmly believe hard work and solid business ethic makes the wheels of our nation turn. I didn't give this young lady much attention until I saw where she turned away the opportunity for an Amazon facility being built in her district for environmental reasons. A district where real people need real jobs and could give a hoot about dead trees while their babies go hungry. That was when I started paying attention. This young lady is far too wet behind the ears to have the position she holds.

Another non-argument couched in a personal attack. It never changes with you. You prove every time you post that you know nothing, you only want to argue with nothing more than your opinion, and you're completely stuck 50 years in the past. No wonder you're the joke of this forum. Now I'm down on your level. Happy?

Perhaps if it had been a more open process, there would have been less push-back. How often have these companies moved in, took billions in tax breaks, and then walked away having kept none of their promises?

    Her is her take.

I'll listen to this on the road home tonight. I will forewarn you... I live in a business friendly state and have seen major facilities locate in our state over the years. Amazon, BMW Manufacturing, UPS Hub, Walmart Hub, Nephron Pharmaceutical & Michelin Tire just to name a few. I am not privy to the tax breaks those corporations may have received to locate here, but I do know many of the thousands of employees these facilities have provided lucrative careers to. I would bet the payroll taxes and local commerce gained far outweigh the tax breaks offered these corporations....... But I will listen to this and try not to have the preconceived notion that this decision was for personal political grandstanding while having no regard for the well being of her constituents.

No, Joe. you are the joke of this forum. You are a one trick pony. You hate Trump. That is the beginning and the end of 95% of your posts.

You can't discuss real issues like USMCA Trade Agreement which is stuck in the House because of Nancy Pelosi won’t put the bill to a vote. That would give the Trump "a win" which should never happen despite that fact that it would really be a win to American workers and businesses.

You can't discuss the infrastructure problems because Trump would be involved in the discussions. You can't have that. We must remove him first.

You can't discuss the immigration problem because that would be in opposition to open borders, which is prime objective for you and the Democrat Party.

When I came to this site, you had a near monopoly on the issues. You battered everyone one here with your over bearing and bullying ways. I’ve kicked your butt, and you don’t like it.

As for being “50 years in the past,” I’m actually 240 years in the past because I believe in the freedoms that were put in the words by our founding fathers. I believe in capitalism, elections and peaceful passages of power from one administration to another. You can’t stand the results of the 2016 election and want to tear the country to pieces to reverse it.

The Democrats think they are something new with their big government, top down approach, but their ideas are much older than mine. They yearn for the days when kings, emperors and maybe a few well-placed nobles dictated to everyone one else how they should live their lives. That’s the Democrat approach. A small number of people get all the power and most of the resources. “The people” get the crumbs the leadership choses to give them.

Your precious Elizabeth Warren wants to destroy the financial system of this country by bringing down all of the billionaires. She is too short sighted to know that what the billionaires and millionairs have largely financial instruments that they use to allocate capital. If you destroy the basis for that, the system falls apart and the economy goes with it. The result is that we end up like Venezuela.

I listened to what she had to say and tried to do it as open mindedly and objectively as I was able.

Assessment #1.... This young lady relies far too heavily on the cute catch phrases. I believe these days they are called sound bites. It is a problem very prevalent among young people these days. They implement a thought process and reinforce that thought process with a cute catch phrase or something similar. And these young people believe they have accomplished something worthwhile..... Nothing replaces getting your hands dirty and accomplishing something real and tangible. The only thing that gets the job done is getting the job done. Cute sound bites are self serving and accomplish nothing of any benefit.

Assessment #2.... The resounding message here is, “What’s in it for me?”... Here is a mega corporation offering the opportunity for real well paid jobs and the local commerce that comes with it. Yet, she wants more. Control our rent... Teach our kids.... These things are not the business of business. Bringing real jobs to the community is not enough anymore? That sends a deafening message to businesses of all kinds. She will do to her constituents what organized labor did for Detroit. Mark my words.

In closing I’ll just say I was surprised by what I heard. She was obviously entertaining an audience of supporters. I wonder if she would entertain a similar audience of folks hoping to find work at Amazon?

A canned, pathetic response, as usual.

The fact that you picked one of the worst officeholders in all of government to be your spokesman shows how desperate you are.

Here's a tip for you. If you want to get rid of Trump, think about the 2020 election. You are an Elizabeth Warren supporter. Go out an knock on doors for her, like I have done for the candidates of my choice.

U.S. House Democrats claim victory in revamping U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade pact

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. House Democrats on Tuesday claimed victory in negotiating changes to a U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement to ensure better protection for workers, the environment and remove key provisions that they said would have benefited big pharmaceutical companies.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the agreement reached after a year of tough negotiations was “infinitely better” than what the Trump administration initially proposed, calling it “a victory for American workers.”

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal said sections of the text would be reviewed by lawmakers, but he saw no reason for “unnecessary delays” in bringing the trade pact to a vote on the House floor. It is expected to pass the Senate.
