. . . For all those security conscious RWNJs who were so concerned about Clinton's private server:

Any Half-Decent Hacker Could Break Into Mar-a-Lago

QUOTE-- Two weeks ago, on a sparkling spring morning, we went trawling along Florida’s coastal waterway. But not for fish.

We parked a 17-foot motor boat in a lagoon about 800 feet from the back lawn of The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach and pointed a 2-foot wireless antenna that resembled a potato gun toward the club. Within a minute, we spotted three weakly encrypted Wi-Fi networks. We could have hacked them in less than five minutes, but we refrained.

A few days later, we drove through the grounds of the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, with the same antenna and aimed it at the clubhouse. We identified two open Wi-Fi networks that anyone could join without a password. We resisted the temptation.

We have also visited two of President Donald Trump’s other family-run retreats, the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., and a golf club in Sterling, Virginia. Our inspections found weak and open Wi-Fi networks, wireless printers without passwords, servers with outdated and vulnerable software, and unencrypted login pages to back-end databases containing sensitive information.

The risks posed by the lax security, experts say, go well beyond simple digital snooping. Sophisticated attackers could take advantage of vulnerabilities in the Wi-Fi networks to take over devices like computers or smart phones and use them to record conversations involving anyone on the premises.

I think compared to Trump straight up giving the Russians our National Security secrets, hiring a National Security Adviser already under investigation by the FBI and giving him access to the highest intelligence data, conducting national security business from a dinner table in a public place, tweeting from an unsecured twitter account, hiring his relatives and giving them top secret clearance, and all the other nonsense.... This seems kind of tame.

To the complete moron who wrote the quoted piece, the properties you visited are not unlike any other lodge, hotel, convention center, or the like. They all possess WIFI systems to placate their clientele, but almost never offer a level of security becoming key government employees.

That is exactly why the government issues secure communication devices to employees in security-critical positions . . . like POTUS Trump . . . it is also the reason that Hillary Clinton was more than simply careless in the handling of State secrets.

So, stay on subject . . . complain, if you will, about how POTUS Trump tweets from his government issued device, but don't mislead readers into believing he is communicating State secrets via unsecured channels . . . like Hillary Clinton did.

I don't think you read the article. The security failures at Mar-a-Lago and elsewhere mean that devices other than any "secure communication devices" within reach of the hackable WiFi networks can be used for listening in on conversations.

You may be willing to convince yourself that this and other displays of rank incompetence by Trump and his administration fall under the rubric of "nothing to see here," but the rest of the world sees plenty.

Your writer is uninformed . . . the Secret Service purges the POTUS' whereabouts of all electronics not issued by the Secret Service.

Other than liberals believing only what they want to, the rest of the world sees nothing.

Everything Trump does falls under the category of "nothing to see here" for these idiots because they are sycophantic tools with a heaping helping partisan blindness that couldn't be changed if Trump fled to Russia to become Putin's personal lapdog. They are completely willing to follow him all the way down the rabbit hole he has scurried into and shows no sign of emerging from. They voted for him, they support him, and they will go down with him via some sort of perverse loyalty oath that defies all reason or common sense.

Here is the thing. If they could ever find it in themselves to objectively evaluate Trump's pros and cons in this forum, I'd agree and disagree with much of what they would in all likelihood say providing they could back up their perspectives with actual provable facts instead of just their own opinions. They aren't capable of that type of conversation because they have no facts to support there partisan opinions. Just like Trump and his alternative facts, they live in a different reality unrelated to actual reality.

I gave up a long time ago thinking that they might toss their partisan perspectives aside for the purpose of intelligent dialogue because I realized they have no objective facts to bring to any argument so they have to rely exclusively on personal attacks, alternative facts, their own opinions presented as facts, and straight up lies.

Rambling to oneself like that gets you only to one place . . . schizophrenia . . . unfortunately, I think that's right where you started.

What does "purges the POTUS' whereabouts of all electronics not issued by the Secret Service" even mean? I interpret it as you saying you believe that no members of Mar-a-Lago are allowed to carry their own phones while the president is there, but you can correct me if I've got it wrong. Do you have a source for this bald assertion, or are you talking through your hat?

In case you've forgotten, we have photos taken by s Mar-a-Lago member on their personal phone of Trump and Shinzo Abe getting a briefing on North Korea's missile test. This is irrefutable evidence that "electronics not issued by the Secret Service" are allowed at Mar-a-Lago. They're allowed in the immediate area of the president and his important guests, even when a sensitive international incident is underway.

The electronic security at Mar-a-Lago is apparently woefully inadequate. BUT HER EMAILS!!!

I interpreted that post as a response to mine. In case you missed it, the give-away was JoeNation's use of the precise phrase that I'd used in mine, in precisely the same context. Any person who wasn't trying to score cheap points by contemptibly denigrating a fellow member of this site would have understood that. I think that you chose to try to insult JoeNation because you're simply unable to address what he said.

In your desperation to support your story, it apparently escaped your notice that what is being described in that article is the removal of landline phones in the president's hotel room. No mention is made at all of people being made to give up their personal cell phones, and as stated above, we have irrefutable evidence that that is not done. So, talking through your hat indeed.
